SQL Migration

Migrating Data To MS-SQL Using SSMA

Discover how to use Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) to automate database migration to Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL).

Solution Overview

Databases have come a long way since they were first developed in the 1960s. And today, database products are available in workload-specific optimizations that can be deployed on-prem, on-cloud, or rented via software as a service (SaaS).

The Microsoft Azure SQL Database is a recommended target option for SQL Server workloads that require a fully managed platform as a service (PaaS). Azure SQL Database handles most database management functions. It also features built-in high availability, intelligent query processing, scalability, and performance capabilities to suit many application types.

MSSQL provides flexibility with multiple deployment models and service tiers catering to different applications or workloads. With advanced capabilities and Azure Hybrid benefits available for enterprises, MSSQL is a very good option that cannot be ignored.

Demo Overview

This demo aims to help you understand the steps involved in migrating to MSSQL. The lab attempts to provide an environment where the data from one database product (MySQL) can be migrated to MSSQL using technologies like SSMA.

The environment is already configured for a test database that can then be used to perform an actual migration to understand the steps better.
